We even traveled up to Powell River to see the progress being made on the house that Clayton's parents are building. Its going to be a fabulous house! Aubrey tried to give us the full Powell River experience. We visited some lakes, the Community Center/Ice Rink, the beginning of the TransCanada Highway, and saw a ginormous pig that wanders the road, a huge bald Eagle, and even ordered food from the "Italian/Greek/French" restaurant. It was a very interesting trip. To get to PR from White Rock you have to take 2 ferries and drive about 2.5 hours total..its a great adventure and Casey loved it. I was feeling kind of blah and not too social and figuring I wasn't going to have this baby until Monday when we were scheduled to be induced. I was reading my birth forums on babycenter.com when I came upon a list of "pre-labor" symptoms. As I read through them I realized that I was experiencing about 6 of the 10. Still, I figured nothing was going to happen anytime soon.

So we all go to sleep around 10pm and I have a contraction that wakes me up, but I didn't think too much of it as I had had a few of those in the last few nights. I figure if I have another one then Ill start timing them. Well shortly after that I feel a pop and my water burst. This is by far the weirdest feeling ever. I immediately grabbed Clayton's arm and exclaim...'oh my god! My water just broke'. I was totally shocked and half off the bed since I was trying to protect our mattress. Clayton leapt out of bed and asked me 'ok what do we need to do?' Im all 'you have to pack some pants and your toothbrush and my hair stuff. oh but first we should call the hospital and let them know we are coming and I need to jump in the shower.'

I was thinking that I had hours until I would deliver since even though your water breaks you dont necessarily go into labor right away...I thought we had plenty of time. So Clayton calls the hospital and exclaims 'Im Clayton Rodgers, my wife's name is Jennifer Rodgers and her water broke so we are coming in. Do you need any other information?!' I have to give Clayton total credit for remaining calm and grabbing everything we needed..like the cameras and our hospital bag and getting everything in the car, including me, as well as sending out some emails to work and setting up his out of office notice...all in 15 minutes. I was giggling the whole time because it was the most surreal experience ever. Clayton's mom was thankfully staying with us 'just in case' so she could watch Casey as we rushed off to the hospital.

We were on the road by 12:50. Except that we did stop to take the garbage to the curb cause as I stated at the time 'we would regret missing the garbage pickup'. Clayton asked how fast he needed to drive since the hospital was 20 minutes away. I reassured him that I was fine and would not be having this baby on the side of I-5, though I started to get painful contractions as soon as we left the house and they were only 2 minutes apart.

We arrived at the hospital at 1:05 and Clayton wheeled me into triage. And just so the story is clear...my water is still gushing out. I cant imagine the horrifying experience some women go through when their water breaks at say Target or McDonalds. So they get me into the gown, into bed, and all hooked up to the monitors. There was some debate on whether or not I was Group B Strep + or -. I knew I was -, but some yahoo messed up my file and said I was +. Not a big deal, but if I don't need antibiotics added to my IV, then I prefer not to have them. It was cleared up, that I was in fact negative, about 2 seconds after the nurse hooked up the Penicillin.

So they monitored me for a bit and sure enough the contractions are really starting to hurt at this point and when asked if I want the Epidural, the answer is an emphatic, 'hells ya'. They then assign me a room and send me on my way upstairs. As soon as we get in the room, my nurse checks me and im already 4cm. Its about 2am and im ready for that epidural. Nurse Erin goes ahead and orders it, and of course the dude is in another room. Thankfully I am next in line. Around 2:30 I am in so much pain that I puke. Fun Stuff. And finally the Epi guy shows up and I have my epidural around 3am. It works this time. After about 10 minutes the nurse says that she is going to start setting up the room for delivery. She doenst just 'casually' go about it, she is practically sprinting. She checks me again around 3:30 and Im already 10cm. Apparently she has called my Doctor to get the hell down here.

So my Doctor, who is the sweetest man you could find, shows up in the most wrinkled scrubs I can imagine. They must have been in his glove box or something. And his hair is all kinds of bed head. He promply went to the sink to wet it down after catching a glimpse of himself. He immediately started putting on the rubber delivery gown and bed is broken down. Apparently this baby is coming right now. I feel intense pressure but nothing that says I have to push. I figure I am going to be pushing for an hour or so. He then says, with this next contractions why dont you try a push...and I do...and once I start, I cant stop because the pain is unbelievable. I push him out in one gigantic push. Welcome Jordan at 3:55am. Water break to Delivery was only 3.5 hours. This is how labor should be.

Hello 2010

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 213px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_m159TkhTDXs/S4QMX-PJuLI/AAAAAAAADYU/XIuH51tw0lk/s320/DSC_0065.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5441487855753476274" />
We have a new addition to the family as of February 12th. Of all the kids photographed, Casey was the one who made the headlines! Sorry about that. I could say we have had an unusually busy summer, but not really. Clayton survived another fiscal year end and we celebrated by spending some time at Shuswap Lake in B.C. In June I am proud to say I finished my first 1/2 marathon. I completed the Seattle Rock n Roll 1/2 marathon in about 3 hours. I ended up walking a bit more than I would have liked, but I was 7 weeks pregnant...so cut me some slack :)

SO yes, we are due February 7th with our second child. I am 18 weeks along and have an ultrasound scheduled for Sept. 15th. Very excited!! I was really sick during the first trimester, but am finally through it and looking forward to getting my energy back.

I got to fly down to Austin in June to visit with Stella and Adrienne. Adrienne and Shawn's son, Ian, was the real reason for the trip. He couldnt be any cuter...just like a little doll.

We are super excited to be heading to Orlando next week to visit Spencer and Britt, as well as Mickey Mouse. We will spend a few days at the Disney parks, and also at Sea World. I will be sure to take some pics and update this site in a timely manner.

Well thats all I can think of right now. Whoo hoo!

I am officially registered for the Seattle Rock n Roll 1/2 Marathon and am looking forward to it. So far I can run 8 miles, and will attempt 9 miles this weekend. Our friends Tori and Erik threw thier son, Isaac, his first birthday party back in December. They came up with the brilliant idea of putting all the kiddos in a baby pool and place a cake in the center for them to go at it. Casey wanted nothing to do with it, but the others sure made it entertaining. Here are some pictures.

As for us, we are just gearing up for Casey's birthday tomorrow. Today he tried to go face first off the bottom few stairs and took a nice header onto the tile. There is a lovely knot on his forehead just in time for party pictures tomorrow. He is fine, but Im not feeling too good. Im sure it wont be the last time he knocks his head on something, but man talk about giving me a heart attack!

Oh and he is now a full fledge walker. We had the best time visiting with our friends, and eating our way through the state. We started off in Houston, visiting with the Smith Family, as well as catching up with some childhood friends. I will post some pictures soon. Then we headed off to Austin to visit with Adrienne and her expecting family. We ventured off to the Saltlick for BBQ and it was just as tasty as I remembered. We really enjoyed our time with them and cant wait to go back after thier baby is born! One night we went out for burgers and Casey did some table dancing that entertained the entire establishment. We spent the weekend before Christmas with The Huttons side of the family. We had a great time even though we were all a bit sick.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 213px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_m159TkhTDXs/SVfJ5VzP8FI/AAAAAAAACRA/DCim33OAir8/s320/DSC_0093.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5284914674684391506" />
Then Uncle Spencer and Aunt Britt came out from Florida for the week and they had lots of fun hanging out with thier nephew. We then headed to Canada and spent the night with Leanne and Christian and thier son Everett. It was lots of fun watching the two boys play Christmas morning.

Then off we went with the Whole Rodgers clan to Chiliwack B.C. to spend the day at Aunt Joyce's house. Thanks again for all the food, it was wonderful! After dinner, and a nap, we hit the road for the 3 hour drive back home. Four of us teamed up to run a 5k (with Obstacles) for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We had a blast running through trails, climbing over walls, crawling through tubes, and rolling in the mud, all while carrying a pineapple. Here are some pictures from the Seattle P.I. that will give you a better idea, and here are some pictures that Clayton took of our team.

We dont have a run scheduled for December yet, but Im sure we will find one. Our goal is to run one each month, and possibly working our way up to a 10k+, but we may have to wait until spring when we are more motivated to train for longer distances.

Things here are going well. Casey is now climbing things, and also learning how to climb down off things, which is good. He is still working on his top 4 teeth, but thankfully they dont seem to bother him. Oh and he is now taking a bottle like a champ! Some fellow moms and I are teaming up to run the Winter Pineapple Classic Nov 16th. Its a 5k Race, with obsticles that we wont know about until race day. We apparently also have to run the race while carrying a Pineapple. Should be a blast!

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_m159TkhTDXs/SSorl7lMvAI/AAAAAAAACE0/aXv1_MBrZ3g/s320/PA270200.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5272074244439456770" />

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_m159TkhTDXs/SRNBLDRkZdI/AAAAAAAACBw/p-89ag9_bwE/s320/image78.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265624047439603154" />
Casey also celebrated his first Halloween. Our mommy group at the hospital celebrated by parading the kids through the Labor and Delivery department to show off all the cute costumes to the nurses. A few of my friends and I got together and made Carmel and Candy apples to hand out..they were a big hit!

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_m159TkhTDXs/SRNCONQWhvI/AAAAAAAACB4/j0zIsMLxVr4/s320/image38.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265625201170089714" />
We also went Clamming with Grandma and Grandpa Hutton. They took us out to the ocean and gave us all the gear and let us go at it. Digging up wet sand is very tiring. We all got our limits though (15 clams) and it only took us about an hour. It was really cold and windy, but Casey did well, and even fell asleep.

Scott is now in Australia and has had quite the adventure already. Here is a bit of what he has said in some email updates:

"Got quartined in the Melbourne airport while they checked my trekking shoes from Northern Thailand for soil contaimination."

"Made it to Melbourne. Apparently my booking didn't go through for my hostel but was able to get a room for the night. Got hit by a bus today. Was standing outside the hostel chatting with some fellow backpackers when BLAMO! a bus driving right next to the curb which I was standing next to but not on smacks me on the back with its large side mirror sending me into the stationary trash bin knocking the wind out of me breifly. Also received a small cut on my thumb. Bus didn't even stop. I'm fine. Bus 1 Scott 0"

"Checked out of the hostel yesterday morning. The whole city shut down for teh Melbourne Cup Horse racing. spent the day relaxing at teh botanical gardens then got on the 9pm overnight greyhound bus to sydney. 13 hours. About an hour before we arrived in Sydney I look down and see my bag was slighly open. I checked and sure enough my wallet and passport were missing. the bus made a stop on some town 30 min before sydney so i got off and told the bus driver and said I was suspicious of the bloke across the aisle from me who was scetchy. also i was sitting in the very back of the bus with no one behind me. Didnt sleep at all and used the bathroom once which was right behind me.

So my spidey senses direct me to the blokes bag on the floor next to his feet. The zipper was open about 3 inches and I saw what appeared to me the very edge of my wallet, something brown at least. For the last 30 min of teh ride he seemed very agitated, nervous and I kept noticing out of the corner of my eye that he would take glaces at me.

The bus stopped he ammediatley got up to leave, I followed him out ready for a showdown, he stopped to get his bag unloaded from beneath the bus so I took the oppurtunioty to get a better look in his bag. i summoned my ninja skills and placed my bag next to his and pretend to get something out of my bag, got a better look at his and sure enought there was my wallet. I reached in and grabbed it and then was preparing to give him a fatal death blow when he tried to grab his bags with my passport still in there and make a run for it. "steve" the bus driver grabbed him and he gave some resistance but not much. The bus driver told me to head to the police station which was one block away and get backup. We returned got my passport back. he hadnt taken any money out of my wallet yet.

1 hour later after giving my statement the bloke was sent to jail. justice served.

for those of you scoring at home thats Australia 1 for the bus and Scott 1*

* i give my self a point for not actually winning anything but helping to clean the streets of Sydney from the criminal underworld."

Well I better get back to work. Oh I have been hired to do some more work for Invesdex for the Month. Its been a year since I have worked, so Im having to dust off my notes and dig into the deep recesses of my memory. Here are some more October Pics.

Pumpkin Patch

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_m159TkhTDXs/SPaNYn-N3cI/AAAAAAAAB-g/SkPqrYkXhtM/s320/DSC_0051.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5257545069187947970" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_m159TkhTDXs/SO_ySmPXeBI/AAAAAAAAB8s/PttYVcl91uU/s320/DSC_0016.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5255685691481225234" />
Spent the afternoon at the pumpkin patch and had to share some pictures.

September Update (this is long)

I realize it has been a few weeks and so much has happenend this month and its only the 17th!

On September 7th I participated in the Iron Girl 5k run with some of my fellow moms! We all completed it without walking..whoo hoo! Casey and Clayton were there to cheer me on with a sign and everything. I finished in 37 minutes which I was happy with since this was my very first race. The winner ran it in 17 minutes, but im not going to focus on that :) Casey also had his first experience in a swing after the race.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_m159TkhTDXs/SNGWWtlHBvI/AAAAAAAABak/KUrnVDnR_NI/s320/IMG_0055.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5247140357799872242" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_m159TkhTDXs/SNGXEFtGpxI/AAAAAAAABas/g3E9rNB69dk/s320/IMG_0030.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5247141137369966354" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_m159TkhTDXs/SNGXRX0LWUI/AAAAAAAABa0/bS5tM-usnfc/s320/IMG_0053.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5247141365569771842" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_m159TkhTDXs/SNGuvULHlHI/AAAAAAAABhs/kChSMR0BQXc/s320/IMG_0044.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5247167168755766386" />

Casey and I have also gone to the zoo, and the Evergreen State Fair with our mom's group. I dont really have any pictures of these events...as Casey slept through most of them.

We were scheduled to fly down to Houston on Saturday the 13th, but unfortunately (for many) Hurricane Ike intervened. Our flights were cancelled and our vacation plans altered. So instead of spending a week with the Smiths and O'Keefes, we made plans to head south and spend some time with Grandma and Grandpa Hutton and visit Rainer. On our first night Grandma watched Casey so Clayton and I could go lose money at the Muckleshoot Casino...fun! Then Sunday we got up and headed to the Puyallup Fair, which was fun, hot and crowded. Thanks Grandpa Larry for the tickets! Casey also slept through most of it so there are no pictures. However, before leaving for the fair we were all playing on the floor with the dogs. Casey was trying to climb into my lap, when out of the blue, Lickey lept up and attacked Casey. Lickey bit him right on the face and just missed his eye. Here is photographic evidence for the authorities:
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_m159TkhTDXs/SNGbTE_nDeI/AAAAAAAABa8/cajBCfc-kuw/s320/IMG_0060.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5247145792923700706" />

Monday we got up and headed to Mt Rainer where we had a cabin reserved for 2 nights. On our way up we stopped at Sunrise (the highest point in the park accessible by car), took some great pictures, and went for a little hike. While we paused in the meadow to take some pictures, total strangers stopped and took pictures of Casey too...they said he was too cute to pass up!! Uh Ya he is!
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_m159TkhTDXs/SNGeHetLeQI/AAAAAAAABew/r5h0ZZbXQTk/s320/DSC_0068.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5247148892202170626" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_m159TkhTDXs/SNGeY-UST0I/AAAAAAAABe4/7d9wkBpo31U/s320/DSC_0081.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5247149192745471810" />

Then Tuesday we got up and headed to NW Trek where you can explore the animals of the NW at a wildlife park. We took a 50 minute tour through the 435 acre park and saw all kinds of deer, bison, sheep, elk etc. Very cool and educational. We then had lunch in the park.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_m159TkhTDXs/SNGgCIIvNpI/AAAAAAAABfY/w5hn_ynGVWA/s320/DSC_0130.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5247150999267653266" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_m159TkhTDXs/SNGga0c-SvI/AAAAAAAABfg/bqININaEXbs/s320/DSC_0138.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5247151423480548082" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_m159TkhTDXs/SNGgml4l-sI/AAAAAAAABfo/iyRl6DXE_8E/s320/DSC_0133.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5247151625728293570" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_m159TkhTDXs/SNGg-ewiu8I/AAAAAAAABfw/ls9ALij8U-E/s320/DSC_0144.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5247152036132338626" />

Well that is about all the news I have today. He weighed in at 20lbs 11 oz at his checkup yesterday. He is now 27 1/4 inches long and healthy. We have introduced him to Rice Cereal and Apples, and he didnt care for either. I hope we dont have a picky eater on our hands!

He also got his first tooth a couple of weeks ago. Only one has come up, and the second one is starting to show through now. He is also very good at army crawling and can cover a great distance very quickly. Our house is now covered in gates.

We are getting ready for our big trip to Texas in a few weeks to visit our Texas Family. Hopefully it goes well! I think I hear Casey waking up, so I got to run! Well for Casey's 5 month mark, he decided to start army crawling forward and is now showing all the signs of full on crawling...should be any day now.

We went on our annual camping trip to Bay View State Park this year. We had great weather, and even went out on the O.B.'s boat and spent the day crab fishing. It was awesome. The pot I pulled up had 35 Dungeness Crabs...only 2 keepers though..but they were delicious. I will post more pics soon. Casey did ok the first night, and much better the second. It was just so cold at night that I worried we wasnt warm enough, but he did fine.

We have booked our tickets to head on down to Texas for 9 days in September. Cant wait! He landed in Madrid where he is staying for the first month. He is renting a room from some Michigan dude he found on Craigslist. He has his laptop and is already making entries to his blog: Not Dead Yet. We are watching his dog, Lickey, for the duration and so far so good. Though he seems pretty bummed about the whole situation.

Grandma and Grandpa Rodgers came down for a quick visit and we spend lots of time outside in the shade due to the extreme heat wave we were experiencing. He is now 4 months old and has stopped sleeping through the night..grrrr. Hopefully this is just a phase.

Casey had his 4 month check up on Thursday and he is now 18 lbs 1.5 oz., and 25.5 inches. Dr said he looks great! He is just a big healthy baby, who is now in the 6 month clothing. He started rolling over a few weeks ago and is now able to get his knees and feet under his bum, so its just a matter of time before he gets the strength to push up his chest and take off.

We are now partaking in 2 playgroups and its been fun getting to know some other moms and babies in the area. We are also thinking about hitting the public pool soon, but since all the swim lessons are for 6 months and up, we may just have to give swimming a try on our own for now.

Here he is showing off his Hat from Grandma Rodgers
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_m159TkhTDXs/SF8pKxYsNOI/AAAAAAAABQk/qu497m84tO0/s320/image24.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5214932158550652130" />

June Update

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_m159TkhTDXs/SEd2dC2PVaI/AAAAAAAABF0/BnUVnNbs_e4/s320/DSC_0006.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5208261735429920162" />

Well we have been up to quite a bit in the last month. When will I ever learn!

Yesterday we spent the day downtown visiting with our Ex co-workers at BMRS and RGL. It was loads of fun since Casey was an absolute angel. He is already into the 3 month clothing because of his length. He is pretty darn big. He is still doing great and even slept through the night last night. He slept from 8:30pm - 5:00am....which was super! We started attending the "Living with Baby" classes on Mondays and that has been fun yet stressful. He seems to get fussy towards the end of class and wants to eat. I brought a bottle this last week and things went a little better, but he didnt seem to want the bottle...we will keep trying though.

I, of course, have posted some more pictures.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_m159TkhTDXs/SBJeo8YShdI/AAAAAAAABDA/nS-bjnkl4UU/s320/image2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5193317377807386066" />

Smiles

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_m159TkhTDXs/R_z8YpwvioI/AAAAAAAAA_s/Ctt-iD03pVY/s320/image12.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5187298371281324674" />
Casey is now 7 weeks and we are starting to get regular smiles. including the Casey O' Rodgers: Happy St Patricks Day photo.

<img style="cursor:pointer; He was 21 inches long and is perfectly healthy. I however am recovering slowly from a very painful, and long labor process which involved an emergency swat team of nurses, and a blood transfusion. (See Pictures)

Here is the story:

We arrived at the hospital at 7pm on Tuesday the 19th for our scheduled induction. We were admitted and hooked up to the monitors and found that I was having semi regular contractions on my own and wouldnt need to induce that evening. So we stayed overnight under observation. Early wednesday am I was put on a pitocin IV drip and waited for my contraction to get going. About 6pm they started getting stronger and painful and by 8pm I was 4cm and requesting my Epidural. The Epidural was awesome and I was able to rest for 2 hours.

At 10pm the Epidural was no longer effective and I was having painful contractions every 2-3 minutes. Apparently I had dialated to 7-8cm in 2 hours which is why we thought they were so painful. The Anesthesiologist tried giving me more medication which took the edge off. I tried to rest but come midnight they were full force again and I had the anesthesiologist come back again and once again they figured the pain was due to my dialating to the full 10 cm. So once again I was just given more medication in my Epidural, which did nothing and I was told that I would soon be ready to start pushing. So without any effective pain medication on board, I started pushing at 1:30am. Not only were the contractions an 11 on the painscale of 1 - 10, but I didnt get a break from the pain in between contractions. It was an excrusciating 1.5 hours of pushing that I could not have done without Clayton and his constant support. Casey was born at 3:31am and we were shocked to find out he was 9 lbs.

We finally were able to rest around 6am and at 7am the nurse came in and wanted to get me up to use the bathroom. I made it to the bathroom, but then notified her that I was going to pass out...and I did. She pulled the emergency Help button, and a fleet of nurses came rushing in. They had to use Smelling Salts to revive me, and wheel chair me back to bed. Later in the day it was discovered that my Hematocrit (blood cell count)was 20 and an acceptable range is 30+. So I was extremely anemic and given a blood transfusion to bring me closer to normal. I felt much better after recieving 2 units of blood.

We had an extended stay at the hospital since I was in such bad shape, and finally came home Saturday afternoon. All is going well now and Casey is doing great! He truely is the cutest baby :) I will post pictures in a few...have to go feed...again.

All Systems Go

We have been given the green light to be admitted to the hospital this evening for an induction. I will go in for another Nonstress test tomorrow, and then will probably be admitted to the hospital Tuesday night for an induction, if they have a bed available. Baby is still active and kicking, so im not worried about any issues with him being overdue, other than him getting too big. Had a check up today and am slowly progressing. The Dr said I could start labor at any time, but if I dont go into labor naturally by next Tuesday (19th) we will induce. So Ill either go in Tuesday night or Wednesday night..im not sure which day I prefer yet. Im still hoping he comes this weekend.

Tomorrow we will have an ultrasound to check on the fluid levels around the baby. Thought Id let yall know. I have a non stress test scheduled for Tuesday, just to check on the baby, then I have my 40 week check up on Thursday, and an ultrasound check on Friday....unless I have the baby by then. Im getting more uncomfortable as it seems all my joints hurt, but still doing fine.

In other news, we got rid of the Toureg and bought a 2008 Jeep Liberty. The Toureg was nice and roomy, but it was just so unreliable as we had it just a year, and it was in the shop for serious repairs 3 times. I guess that what we get for purchasing a used, and complicated car. I will miss it though as I loved it. On the flip side, the Jeep is awesome and loaded with some really cool features.

Clayton is starting his Paternity leave this week, so he will be around should I need to get to the hospital. He will probably do some work from home a couple of days here and there, but overall he will be home for about 5 weeks. Awesome!

Well our hospital bags are packed and ready to go....just waiting.

39 Weeks

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_m159TkhTDXs/R6kll0kQhwI/AAAAAAAAAuI/ZE_qGf-Z3G8/s320/Us.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5163699779453093634" />
Still no signs of Labor. Im getting ready to be done with this pregnancy. I miss wearing my regular clothes now that Im down to my 4 pairs of maternity pants (which are getting snug). I am also getting more uncomfortable, but thats to be expected. I have a harder time sleeping, and wake up often. I cant complain though, at least I dont have to go into work. I can sit on the couch when I need to, and take a nap if im tired. I cant imagine having to be on my feet all day.

The nursery is pretty much done, just need to find my camera so I can take pictures. My baby shower is this weekend and I cant wait. Stella and Adrienne arrive from Texas tomorrow, so Ill get to spend loads of time with them. I was kind of hoping I would go into labor on Sunday, then they could be here to meet the little guy, but I dont think that is going to happen :)

All in all its going really well. Clayton has been working on finishing up some home projects, and things are looking good. He gets 4 weeks of Paternity and is also taking 1 week of vacation...so he will have lots of time to spend with us before heading back to work.

In other news, Ren turned 13 last week. You wouldnt know he was a senior other than the fact that he sleeps all day, but then again he did that when he was 3.

35 Weeks

Well we are definitely getting close now. Only 5 weeks to go. We are now starting to purchase more baby stuff, and finally have a crib. Once it is assembled and in the room, Ill take a picture of the nursery.

I am feeling fine and don't have any complaints. The pregnancy is going really well, and baby Rodgers is still really active and keeping us entertained. My baby shower is coming up in a couple of weeks and am looking forward to it. My mom, once again, surprised me, and is flying Stella and Adrienne up for the shower. They will be here for 4 days this time and I cant wait!

The weather here has been interesting. For the last 3 days we have woken up to a light dusting of snow on the ground, and today there was about an inch, and its still snowing, though I'm sure it will be mostly melted by the end of the day.

30 Weeks

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_m159TkhTDXs/R179An_AvAI/AAAAAAAAAsw/nn3D4sCUGFM/s320/DSC_0143.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5142826011678784514" />
All is going well. We have finished our Labor and Delivery classes, as well as Infant CPR and Safetly, and we also took a tour of the hospital where we will be delivering. All has gone really smoothly and the hospital birthing suites are awesome, so we are very pleased to be at Providence Everett. I had my 30 week check up yesterday and the baby is doing well, good heartbeat, head down position and moving all the time...which I fear means we are going to have a very active child :) He is now moving around so much that we can see the body parts stick out. This really freaks Clayton out, as it seems like the baby is going to burst out at any moment..alien style.

28 Weeks

Well things are still going smoothly. I had my glucose screen to see how my body handles sugar and I'm happy to report that I passed with flying colors, so I do not have Gestational Diabetes. I am a little low on iron so I get to take these lovely black iron pills once a day. All in all this has been a wonderful pregnancy so far. Baby Rodgers moves a lot and I enjoy watching my belly bump and jerk.

This will be my last week volunteering at the Humane Society which makes me sad, but its getting harder and harder to carry animals, and bend down to feed the masses of cats, as well as deal with the larger dogs who like to jump up on me. So hopefully I can volunteer in other ways until Im able to come back to the Adoption Center.

My job is also winding down. December will be my last month, and even then I dont expect Ill be working too much during the month. So Im just planning on taking it easy and getting ready for the little one. The nursery is coming along and is pretty much ready to be filled with all the furniture the little guy needs. Right now we just have some bookcases with books and stuffed animals on it. Ill take some pictures once we have more in it.

Thanks to Scott for hosting Thanksgiving this year. He did a non-traditional feast with Lamb Shanks and Bacon Wrapped Squabs, along with an excellent pistachio and cranberry pate, and foie gras terrine. Somehow 4 people managed to make thier way through all 8 bottles of wine. The highlight was we had our first experience with Guitar Hero II, and it was awesome!

Rodgers Wedding

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_m159TkhTDXs/Ryi5hCsfDrI/AAAAAAAAAr8/__JvSNGWLzM/s320/Happy+Couple1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5127552153071586994" />

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_m159TkhTDXs/Ryi5-SsfDsI/AAAAAAAAAsE/HwM89ULHRa0/s320/Happy+Couple.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5127552655582760642" />

Had a great time in Orlando and Spencer and Britt's wedding was beautiful. It was a catholic ceremony and they had a full bridal party of 7 bridesmaids and 7 groomsmen, all of whom were very nice and fun to be around. We finally got to meet Britt's family and they were wonderful, and so kind. I hope we will get to spend time with them again in the future. I took some pictures at the ceremony and will work on getting them posted today.

Orlando was particularly fun because it has many of the same restaurant chains that Houston does, so we got to eat at Carrabas, and Landrys, and most importantly, Chic-fil-a. Yum! (None of which are available in Seattle)

In other news, I am now at 25 weeks and can SEE the baby kicking now. Its very strange to watch your own stomach jump without any control. I love it! Seems all is going well and im up about 12 lbs now..I blame a few of those lbs on our vacation.

Orlando

We are in Orlando and have been having a great time. Its hot and very humid, very much like Houston, which is a huge reminder as to why I moved away from Texas. Clayton and I spent Monday at the Epcot Center and Tuesday at Disney MGM. I cant ride most of the rides, so we have been walking around alot and taking in some shows. Today Clayton is at the theme parks with his parents. I decided it was best that I took a day off and rested my very tired feet. Tomorrow we are heading to the Disney Animal Kingdom with the rest of the Rodgers Clan.

In other news Leanne and Christian had thier son yesterday, Everett Harold Toth, and I believe he weighed in near 10 lbs. I will post more information once I have it.

I think that is it for now, I have posted some of the pictures from Epcot and MGM in "Our Pics".

21 Weeks

Well I am definitely starting to put on some weight and my belly is showing. In the first half of the pregnancy I had only gained about 3-4 lbs which the nurse thought was very good. Now that I have passed the halfway point it seems that I am going to start packing on the weight. I am now up about 6-8 lbs and will need to start taking pictures of my expanding belly.

We are heading to Orlando for a week on Oct 21st for Spencer and Britt's wedding and couldnt be more excited. I have never been to Disney World, and cant wait to see some of the sites..even if I cant ride any of the rides.

In other news, it looks like Ill be taking Maternity leave a little earlier than expected as the company I have been working for is going under. I have been with them for 4 years now and its actually not bad timing since I would have started maternity leave in January anyway. So it seems I will be without a job come the end of the month or soon thereafter. No worries though. Ill just have all the more time to lunch with friends, and get ready for the baby.

Baby Rodgers

ITS A BOY! 10 out of 16 were correct! Interesting. Well we will hopefully find out on Sept 21st. In other news, I have started to feel the baby's movements, particulary the punches and kicks. I havent really begun to show...as Clayton put it...it just kind of looks like I ate a few too many cheeseburgers. I have only put on about 5 lbs, and am approaching my heaviest weight ever, which I achieved in Bermuda where I actually did eat a few too many cheeseburgers.

Welcome

Just trying out some new options for posting news and pictures. Im thinking of letting Jennsommers.com go since its kind of a pain to manage at this point. I know its been awhile since Ive updated my website with any news, and we do have some. Im sure most of you know that we are now pregnant and due in February. We have an ultrasound scheduled later this month and we are definitely interested in finding out the gender...we are planners and like to be prepared.

With the news of a new family member we have suddenly bumped up the priority of home improvement projects we have been pondering. We are now living in a construction zone, but its coming together beautifully.

Ill be sure to get our web albums up to date as well, as there have been many photographed events that Im sure people would like photographic evidence of....particularly Spencer's Bachelor Party, and my foray into Fly Fishing.
